Hi! Let me self introduce myself, I am Alok Kashyap a tech professional with a vivid career as a program manager in The United States. Previously I was a Scrum Master. You might have come across my introduction somewhere and have seen Scrum Master quite many times.

I am thrilled to announce that I have been invited to join as a Founding Charter Member of TiE Patna, an esteemed chapter of TiE (The Indus Entrepreneurs). I am deeply honored to be part of such a prestigious organization dedicated to fostering entrepreneurship and innovation.

TiE Patna’s inaugural event is scheduled for Monday, August 5th, 2024. This event marks the beginning of an exciting journey, and I am eager to collaborate with fellow members to create a thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem in Bihar.

Talking about TiE, founded in 1992 in Silicon Valley, TiE has grown into a global network of entrepreneurs and professionals committed to inspiring and supporting new and established businesses. With over 15,000 members across 14 countries, TiE’s mission is to nurture entrepreneurship through mentoring, networking, education, funding, and incubation. The organization has played a pivotal role in the success of countless startups worldwide, creating a vast network of entrepreneurs who support each other, share knowledge, and drive economic development in their regions.

These programs are intended to foster and improve entrepreneurial aptitudes by giving the tools, information, and assistance required to launch and expand prosperous enterprises. There are also other entrepreneur development programs, which target young people and other business developers wishing to launch industrial or independent businesses, and are frequently run by polytechnics, technical colleges, or business schools.

Born in India, living in the USA. A Project manager/ Scrum master at United Airlines with expertise as a Lead Business Analyst focusing on leading projects with single or multiple stakeholders to elicit requirements, prioritize needs and deliver solutions.

1:1s: As needed, hold one-on-one meetings with stakeholders and team members. Solve team disputes on workflow and methods of operation. A lot of scrum practitioners are against one-on-one meetings because they think these discussions belong in standups. On the other hand, new teams frequently favor these frequent in-person meetings with particular team members. The scrum master may determine that these one-on-one encounters are essential to the growth of the team and to get to know one another.

Scrum Master Responsibilities

The scrum guide outlines the various functions that scrum masters can fulfill within the scrum team, although it does not include a comprehensive list of all possible duties. Scrum masters frequently carry out a number of the following tasks.

For example:

Standups: As needed, lead the daily scrum or standups.

Meetings for sprint/iteration planning: Guard against scope creep and over commitment on the part of the team. support the establishment of subtasks and estimation.

Sprint reviews: Attend the meeting and record the comments.

Retrospectives: Make a list of things to work on and things to improve for upcoming sprints.

Reporting: To determine what is built and at what cadence, regular monitoring of burndown charts and other tools for portfolio planning is necessary.

Obstacles: By removing external obstacles and overseeing internal barriers, the scrum master helps the team.

These were some of the responsibilities and well they align with the workflow when working on a daily basis.

Skills of Scrum

For scrum masters to perform the job well, we need a certain set of soft skills. Over time I have realised these traits would help in the long run:

Leadership: Scrum masters need to demonstrate their leadership abilities without coming across as bossy. Serving the group and encouraging self-organization are two ways they lead.

Effective communication: It’s essential to communicate in an open and clear manner. Scrum masters ensure that all team members and interested parties are aware of the objectives, challenges, and state of the project.

Empathy: It’s critical to comprehend and feel the team’s difficulties. Scrum masters must encourage and assist their teams when things get tough.

Problem-solving: Scrum masters frequently resolve disputes and obstacles. To keep the team on course, they need to be skilled at addressing problems and coming up with solutions. 

Adaptability: Scrum masters ought to be flexible and receptive to new ideas. They must adapt to the project’s and the team’s changing needs.

Time management: In order to keep the team on track and achieve sprint goals, scrum masters need to be skilled time managers.

Having someone in the role who has experience with scrum before can be quite beneficial when implementing scrum. Scrum masters are therefore frequently employed as consultants or part-timers rather than as full-time employees. Every scrum team is unique, though.

A lot of seasoned teams take delight in delegating management tasks to one another and work together to accomplish the tasks mentioned above. The team may elect to cycle the scrum master position, with various team members leading standups and retrospectives in turn.

Hi! Let me self introduce, I am Alok Kashyap a tech professional with a vivid career as a program manager in The United States. Those who are close to me often say ”Automobile, tech, and passion for entrepreneurship are the three things that drive Alok Kashyap!

In terms of employment, 2023 was a rollercoaster ride for the tech sector. And a similar situation is going on in 2024.

This is a hot topic in the tech industry so I thought it would be nice to address this topic.

Job security is something that is earned through hard work and dedication, and when it is lost in layoffs or recession then it can stress anyone out.

There was much news about tech layoffs, recession in the US and, recession in India but the one that most caught the eye was “Google chose to cut about 12,000 jobs from its staff last year”. And the statement from Sundar Pichai about the current round of layoffs:

“This year, we’re going to invest in our top priorities and have high goals. In actuality, we must make difficult decisions to make this investment possible.”

Reading all this news was stressful. And many of us are dealing with the recession now.

So to wonder what changed the job market? As in the pandemic, there were many jobs and hiring was a boom.

I was reading an article which said,

“Aftereffects from the post-pandemic recruitment boom are still noticeable. Tech companies overspent on hiring more employees. They now feel compelled to realign to the required levels and rebalance their ranks”

On the other hand, with AI advancing at a rapid pace and ushering in a new era of work, the debate over AI’s potential effects on labor costs has heated up. Analysts and business executives are assessing how well automation and human skills complement one another.

The application of AI may result in labor cost efficiencies that are highly anticipated. It’s crucial to remember that while some jobs or portions of jobs currently done by humans are thought to be replaced by AI, these predictions may be premature. Nevertheless, businesses are getting ready for a significant organizational change in light of AI breakthroughs.

I think from the perspective of employment, artificial intelligence is a bittersweet symphony.

So from our end what we can do is keep ourselves motivated and surround ourselves with positivity and productivity. Whatever the scenario, it is important to understand that we can achieve all we want only when we believe in our ability. We should stay up to date with new technologies, access the scope and need of trade in the job market, upskill ourselves, and be ready to switch careers and jobs whenever required.

By staying motivated, embracing positivity, and continuously learning, we empower ourselves to navigate any scenario and achieve our goals. Believing in our abilities and keeping up with new technologies will open doors to new opportunities. Let’s commit to learning, adapt to the changing needs, and remain flexible in our careers. With determination and the right mindset, we can thrive in any environment and reach our fullest potential.

To hear the title “Entrepreneur of the Year 2024” and win an award for it is an incredible and overwhelming feeling. I am filled with gratitude to have received this award. This accolade is a reminder that perseverance, innovation, and teamwork can turn dreams into reality.

Alright now not getting all emotional and getting back to the point of sharing this news with you all. Since it has been some time I have been attending these award functions and winning a few of them. I thought today I would talk about how receiving such applause brings in the difference in our attitude, and motivates us and also the team.

The influence of receiving business accolades

Gaining recognition as a reliable and dependable company or getting a leadership award can be a great influence and bring change. Let me narrow down some points for you:

Increase in team morale

Everyone on your team feels better after you win a major honor. They are grateful to have their efforts acknowledged. While this is fantastic for the here and now, it also implies that your team members will be more likely to protect their titles in the future. There’s nothing that feels or looks better than being “best in class”.

Gained attention

Gaining recognition for your company through awards can be beneficial. It is not only the one who receives the awards gets benefits, it is also the consumers. Cause, you might attract the interest of vendors, suppliers, and investors more frequently; a large number of them write articles and host award ceremonies for prospective business partners.

Better Value

You might be able to raise your prices for your services after your company starts receiving awards, and you should. As it serves a credibility for the company. For example, think back to the aforementioned Michelin restaurant. The highly praised restaurant may provide the same food as the fancy bistro down the block, but since it has won an award, it might be allowed to charge more for its meals, and few customers might object to that. But it comes with better service and source.

So it was all about that and as I have already mentioned several times events and award shows offer chances to network with peers and leaders in the field. These exchanges can result in beneficial alliances, partnerships, and discoveries that spur development and creativity.

Accolades in business are more than just a mark of recognition; they serve as a spur to expansion, inspiration, and more visibility in the marketplace. I see each accolade as a reflection of the efforts of our team and a first step toward greater success in the future.

My Experience at the Bihar Startup Conclave 2024

I recently attended another startup event held in Patna, Bihar. I was invited by the Bihar Industry Association and VenturePark Incubator at “𝗕𝗶𝗵𝗮𝗿 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗽 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗹𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰” as a speaker. As I reflect on the experience at the event, I am reminded of the endless opportunities each day brings. And I was waiting for the moment to share my experience with you.

The Bihar Startup Conclave 2024, was a gathering of some of the most brilliant minds in the startup ecosystem. Sharing the stage with such great personalities was absolutely an incredible feeling for which I am grateful. The event was a room full of ideas, innovations, and inspirations. I had the incredible opportunity to share my insights on innovation and growth, drawing from my experiences in the tech industry and my journey as an entrepreneur.

One of the highlights of the event was the chance to connect with like-minded individuals who are as passionate about startups as I am. The energy in the room was notable, with everyone eager to learn, share, and collaborate. It was inspiring to meet so many talented individuals, each with their unique stories and visions for the future. The conversations we had were not just enlightening but also deeply motivating.

Another aspect that made this event truly special for me was witnessing the incredible work being done by various startups. The innovation on display was nothing short of remarkable. From groundbreaking tech solutions to creative business models, the startups at the conclave showcased the limitless potential of human ingenuity.

Events like the Bihar Startup Conclave are great opportunities to network. Each interaction, each presentation, and each discussion adds to our knowledge and understanding.

All of us have dreams, and we are the one who brings those aspirations to reality for ourselves. I’ve previously talked a lot about my love for automobiles and how much I adore them. I cannot keep myself from sharing that there is one more addition to my list.

When I was younger I too had a dream car like everyone else. And from the list of dream cars, I have ticked most of them. And now I wonder if that dream car made me happy. Cause as soon as I acquired my first dream car, I began to think about my second and used it as inspiration for the future. 

I talk to many people around the world and the debate is about materialistic possessions like dream cars can make us happy and fulfilled. Let me break down some of the things that I have experienced and learned so far, the psychology and reality of having a vehicle that embodies such a love.

Some people only get to dream of dream cars, but a lucky few get to enjoy owning one or a collection of them. But if I think about it, why do we wish to possess one of these cars? What is the allure, and will it genuinely make us happy and fulfilled?

First and foremost, I think owning any luxury car leads to satisfaction and fulfillment when a genuine passion is satisfied and becomes a fulfilling experience. On the other hand, shallow material acquisition frequently leads to flimsy, transient emotional fulfillment. Such a transaction might easily lead to regret and disappointment.

I will only ask the question “Why do you want a dream car or a collection of them”? Ask yourself this. You’re headed in the correct direction if your objective is to follow your passion. But if it’s only for a flimsy excuse, you’re regrettably wasting your time and money.

The Power of Passion

When the appeal of a dream car is irresistible, the yearning for it is fulfilled. It’s when you find it difficult to look away because you can’t stop thinking about it. It occurs when you are overcome by the need to socialize.

Any tangible possession can only bring happiness and contentment if one is genuinely passionate about it. Without passion, it only turns into another material possession that brings about mediocre, fleeting joy.

A dream car’s visual presence, or the collection of them, is the sole source of enthusiasm for many automobile enthusiasts. The styling, the way the light reflects off each curve, and the way the shadows accentuate the stylistic features all captivate them. It’s the sentimental bond created by the special arrangement of colors, textures, and forms. These components, or frequently a group of them, make up a vehicle’s overall visual presence and when you see your car it gives you a fulfilling feeling.

Having Time To Appreciate and Enjoy

 significant portion of the delight for some dream automobile enthusiasts, even collectors, comes from simply ogling the beauty of their vehicle. Others find that genuine fulfillment comes from driving or from social gatherings like auto shows and cruise evenings.

Sadly, a lot of people never feel satisfaction or fulfillment because their hectic schedules keep them from driving the car of their dreams. This leads to a lot of cars, which end up gathering dust in a garage or crumbling in a backyard. As a result, owners in these circumstances are typically compelled to sell and typically feel uneasy or regretful. I believe the number of the car should be justified, unnecessary crowding of the garage makes no sense.

In the end, I will conclude that a dream car should be something you are passionate about and satisfy a strong desire. It should complement your family values, your personality, and your ideal lifestyle without interfering with or neglecting other aspects of your life.

Recall that the purpose of any dream car is to provide good emotional and lifestyle value. The goal is to produce a once-in-a-lifetime event that will be cherished.

Did you take some time off today? Even if it was just your lunch break, anything counts. It works as long as it allows you to take a moment for yourself.

Recently I went on a trip with my family and let me tell you that was a wonderful time with them. I enjoyed the trip. And I took this break after a long time. The time reminded me of the importance of taking breaks for my peace of mind and a better bounce back to work. There are many different reasons why taking breaks is important. In addition to improving your mental and general well-being, breaks also increase your productivity, vitality, and capacity for concentration.

But maybe you find it difficult to take breaks. We are aware that it is not as easy as it seems. You may believe that you are being indolent or ignoring your task, but this is untrue. When you realize how important it is to take a break while maintaining control, you’ll question why you didn’t begin taking breaks earlier.

Work and Breaks

The question is not whether or whether we should take breaks. The question is when and how long to do it. A break is a chance to recharge. It’s when you get to take a break and stretch, have a bite to eat, or look for ways to decompress. You cannot be productive or focused on your work if you do not take breaks from it. When my company says that I really enjoy hanging out with Alok Kashyap, the feeling is usually great cause I know that I am in a better state of mind to enjoy my time with them.

Numerous research have refuted the notion that we must maintain our attention on a single subject for an extended period of time. In fact, studies have shown that productivity and performance actually decline when our brains grow accustomed to a new environment. Additionally, they discovered that prolonged concentration on a single job impairs performance, but that short pauses eventually enable us to maintain our focus for longer. Because of this, brain pauses are crucial because they let us refocus and reassemble our attention instead of battling to stay focused, which ultimately renders us useless.

Long breaks are counterintuitive, according to some academics, because workers get bored and tired more quickly. It matters how much time we spend sleeping. Making ensuring we take pauses that increase our energy levels is something we must do. Additionally, we must determine when those breaks are most appropriate.

Bottom Line

Taking care of our mental health and well-being requires us to learn when to give in while maintaining self-control. It demonstrates to us that we can appreciate relaxation and work hard simultaneously. Because we choose to enhance our physical and emotional well-being rather than allow our jobs to negatively impact it, it’s a type of self-care. 

Taking a break also shows that we appreciate our work-life balance. We demonstrate to ourselves that life is more than just work by pausing to take breaks. And that is truly unique.

Recently I had an interaction with the Financial Express. There was a discussion held on “Sovereign cloud: can it maintain sovereignty in your data”. 

A state, country, or a larger region, like the European Union, may contain all or part of the data belonging to your company, but it must remain contained inside those boundaries. This need has several justifications. Maybe your industry is subject to government regulations, or maybe you handle particular kinds of regulated data, such as personally identifiable information (PII). Maybe there are competitive or industry-specific issues. Regardless of the underlying rationale, the necessity is known as digital sovereignty or data sovereignty.

But the latter word is misleading. Requirements for sovereignty compliance can extend beyond database table storage. It can be necessary for every computer processing regulated data, as well as every network, data flow, backup system, and disaster recovery plan, to be located inside a certain geographic area. At times, security clearances or citizenship in the relevant jurisdiction are prerequisites for accessing regulated systems.

Keeping everything in-house at a local data center is one-way businesses might meet the standards for digital sovereignty. Using the cloud is another option; more specifically, using a sovereign cloud that satisfies certain standards related to digital sovereignty while providing all the benefits of cloud computing.

To address geopolitical issues like economic conflicts, military conflicts, terrorism, and cybercrime, we might soon witness the emergence of global regulatory bodies and bilateral and multilateral collaborations, leveraging sovereign cloud for enhanced data security. Severe financial and legal repercussions could be imposed for non-compliance audits and data breaches revealing regulated information.

To sum up, Cloud sovereignty is still a relatively new concept and represents a long-term strategy.

Business and startup environments that move quickly have ups and downs and a lot of tense interactions. When you are in a better emotional and mental state, you may diffuse disagreement and move everyone toward betterment. All of this mental stress, how do we train our minds for this?

Let us look at some changes we can make and daily practices we can adapt to in this blog.

Expecting positive things to happen

Negative thoughts come easily to us. We tend to think negatively fairly naturally. The secret is to resist allowing them to dictate how you think. We frequently have negative thoughts as a reflexive response to a certain circumstance. The secret is to resist allowing them to dictate how you think. After acknowledging them, we must cast them in a more favorable light. 

How was your day? is a question that many of us ask. We would occasionally hear the positive in this. We can reframe this question to “What was the highlight of your day?” There was a significant shift—only the good, nothing nasty. Practicing small challenges can make big changes in your attitude.

Taking Some Time for Yourself

Give up expecting unattainable perfection from other people and yourself. We constantly sabotage ourselves.

We are prone to a variety of cognitive distortions, such as perfectionism, which is the extreme exasperation that results from anything less than flawless performance, and catastrophizing, which is the belief that minor difficulties pose major obstacles.

Thinking in strict or “all-or-nothing” terms is known as dichotomous thinking, which is another cognitive distortion. Through the process of identifying these mental patterns and making appropriate adjustments, I’ve saved a great deal of grief for myself. For instance, I discovered how to leverage my inner dialogue to my benefit by rephrasing unfavorable ideas as insightful information rather than as the absolute truth.

 

I don’t assume success is something I’ll achieve. Unexpected events can occur at any moment. I’ve stayed sharp because I have a healthy fear of failing.

It will be much simpler to “maintain your mental equilibrium as you pursue your big goals” if we accept that mistakes are unavoidable.

Increase the Possibilities

We can alter our perspective of the world by engaging in meditation, daydreaming, or thinking experiments. We frequently come up with the best ideas, feel refreshed, and become creative during this period of mental clarity.

I am reminded by daydreaming activities of the importance of pleasant feelings, particularly in hectic work contexts. My favorite way to recharge and let my creative flow when I’m feeling low is to close my eyes and let my thoughts drift gently into my consciousness.

Radical Acceptance in Practice

Accepting your flaws means accepting the world for what it is, not what you would like it to be. Think about what’s best to do at that moment, win or lose. The cacophony made by today’s wishful thinking and yesterday’s decisions is muffled by radical acceptance. What’s likely to happen next and risk management are the two main, pertinent factors that help you make a rational, forward-looking decision.

Remain humble

You cannot advance or progress if you are arrogant. Believing that you are an expert is a delusion, as I am not. You’ll keep moving forward if you maintain your humility.

You train your brain in this way to achieve success. I try my best to do the same. These objectives call for ingenuity and a passion for change—characteristics that are essential to entrepreneurship. Whether you’re the CEO of a large corporation or the owner of a small one, you should practice these things.
